Waking up to the smell of coffee is beginning to become a habit. I woke early but decide to nap to the ridiculous hour of 7:20.
I snapped a picture of Six Mile Pub some time during the day from the upstairs deck of my Dad's place. Convenient location!
We had no set plans but ended up going to my Aunt's for an hour or so, then hit Government street where I picked up a few souvenirs. Here is Darth Fiddler.
We came back here and I repacked the trailer, getting even more stuff in it (I am sure that eventually when I unlock it to get in, it will just pop open and everything will fly out.
Once our little chores were done, we headed up to Cowichan Bay for the best fish and chips in the world. Yes, the world. We made a couple of obligatory stops along the way. The first was at the Salish Bear Pole on the Malahat, near where my Dad used to live before moving closer to the city. The next stop was actually the third of three lookouts on the Malahat. This one was called the Malahat Lookout, oddly enough.
After a stop for some Tetley Tea for back home, we headed right into Cowichan Bay and the Rock Cod Cafe. We order the 2 piece cod fish and chips with a Vancouver Island Brewery's Piper's Pale Ale. They don't scrimp on the fish - and just $10.95!
From there, we walked around the Bay and took in the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre. Lots of neat stuff, including a boat being restored, cedar strip canoes, house boats, etc.
Tomorrow, I head for the ferry and the mainland - through Vancouver to about Revelstoke.
Personal Note: With heavy heart, I read about Kilo's passing today. Then later, I got Blondy's voicemail about Chuck Burt passing too. Just an unreal feeling the rest of the day. It will likely change the mood of the rest of the trip.
